Launch is best at medium to high tide providing a short walk over driftwood. The current between the spit and Hope Island can be strong but weakens away from Hope Island. Ala Spit allows access to the entire inland sea behind Deception Pass. Circumnavigate Hope Island and/or Skagit Island or simply head south along the coast as far as you’d like. A few miles south you’ll be inline with the NASWI runway with Navy jets flying low overhead
